As a Puerto Rican artist, Patrick McGrath Muñiz felt compelled to address issues of social and economic struggles within his tarot art. The result is a stunning series of visual narratives depicting 500 years of colonialization and conquests in Latin America. Includes 78 cards and a 92-page book.
Patrick McGrath Muñiz is an American artist from Puerto Rico, who works primarily with oil paintings on canvas and retablos. His work is inspired by Renaissance, Baroque, and Latin American colonial paintings while addressing issues such as colonialism, consumerism, and climate change. Patrick obtained a Bachelor's Degree (Magna Cum Laude) in Fine Arts from the School of Fine Arts of San Juan, Puerto Rico in 2003 and a Masters Degree (Suma Cum Laude) from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2006. Patrick's work can be found at the Albuquerque Museum of Art and History, The Spanish Colonial Arts Museum in Santa Fe, New Mexic,o and the Mesa Contemporary Art Museum, in Mesa, Arizona, as well as a number of private collections in the United States, Europe, the Caribbean and Latin America. The artist now lives and works in Houston, Texas with his wife, Blanca, and his son Francis.
